Forestry Mulching in Dunnellon, FL

A single machine cuts, grinds, and spreads in one pass. No burn piles, no hauling, no bare dirt left behind — just a clean, mulched surface that feeds the soil it came from.

One machine, one pass, no debris

Forestry mulching uses a tracked carrier with a drum mulcher head to shred standing brush and small trees where they grow. The material never leaves the property — it comes out the back of the head as a fine chip layer a few inches deep.

That single-pass approach is what makes it so much faster and cleaner than conventional clearing. There is no excavator stacking piles, no burn permit, no line of dump trucks, and no crater where a root ball used to be.

What the mulch layer does for your land

The chips are not waste. Spread across the cleared ground they shade out weed regrowth, cushion the soil against Florida downpours, and break down into organic matter that our sandy Marion County soil badly needs.

Because the root structure stays intact, the ground stays stable. You avoid the erosion and washouts that follow grubbing and grading, and the area is usable almost immediately — you can drive it, walk it, or fence it the same week.

Vegetation management and fire prevention

For larger acreage, mulching is the practical way to keep fuel loads down year after year. Knocking back palmetto and scrub on a regular cycle protects structures, keeps firebreaks open, and satisfies most defensible-space expectations.

It is equally effective for opening sight lines, reclaiming pasture edges, cutting in trails and food plots, and prepping a homesite before survey and construction.

Efficient clearing that supports long-term land health

Forestry mulching is the most efficient way we know to clear unwanted vegetation while preserving soil health. The head grinds brush, small trees, and debris in place and leaves behind a nutrient-rich layer that holds moisture, prevents erosion, and feeds the ground as it breaks down.

That makes it a good fit for three very different goals at once: clearing land you want to use, lowering fire risk around a home or barn, and simply improving a property so it looks and functions the way you pictured when you bought it.

Mulching vs. Traditional Clearing

Two ways to clear the same acre

Both approaches open up a property. The difference is what they leave behind — and what it costs you in permits, hauling, and repair afterward.

Forestry mulching

  • Leaves a protective, nutrient-rich mulch layer over the soil
  • No burn piles and no burn permit to chase
  • No debris hauling, dump trailers, or tipping fees
  • Minimal soil disturbance — roots stay in place and hold the ground
  • Usable almost immediately after we finish

Traditional land clearing

  • Leaves bare, exposed dirt open to Florida downpours
  • Material is stacked and burned, weather and permits permitting
  • Trucks in and out for days hauling debris off site
  • Grubbing and grading tear up soil structure and leave ruts
  • Often needs seeding or fill before the ground is usable
What to Expect

How the job runs, start to finish

Four steps on every property, whether it is a quarter acre behind the house or forty acres of back pasture.

01

Walk the property together

Craig walks the acreage with you, checks the density of the growth, and agrees on where the mulching starts and stops.

02

Mark the trees to keep

The oaks, pines, and specimen trees you want are flagged first. Everything else in the work area is fair game for the mulching head.

03

Mulch in a single pass

Brush, scrub, and small trees are ground where they stand and the chips are spread back across the ground as a protective layer.

04

Final walkthrough

We go over the finished ground with you, adjust the grind depth or coverage where you want it, and leave the site clean.

What Neighbors Say

Craig did a fantastic job — we haven't seen the back half of our property in quite a few years, and now it can be used for what we want. I would recommend him to everyone that needs land clearing.
